Lovely VSPVU’ers

As the Board year is coming to an end, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on my time as Commissioner of External Affairs of the 78th Board. It’s hard to put into words just how much this year has meant to me, it’s been challenging, exciting, and full of growth.

The beginning of the year was definitely intense. Suddenly, I was the one responsible for external communication, building partnerships, and representing the association in a professional way. Learning how to conduct formal meetings, negotiate deals, and maintain long-term collaborations was a steep learning curve, but also one of the most rewarding parts of my role. There’s something really satisfying about closing a partnership that benefits both the association and its members.

Beyond my external responsibilities, I also had the opportunity to lead and support several committees. Working together with passionate members to bring ideas to life taught me a lot about leadership, communication, and flexibility. Every committee had its own dynamic, and figuring out how to guide and empower them has been an incredible learning experience.

Of course, there’s also been plenty of fun along the way. From the unforgettable Active Member Weekend to the study trip and countless social events, this year has brought so many great memories. What I’ve appreciated the most is the daily interaction with members, having conversations in the VSPVU room, celebrating achievements together, and sharing the ups and downs that come with Board life.

Looking back, I feel proud of what we’ve accomplished as a team and how far I’ve come personally. The skills and confidence I’ve gained this year will stay with me, especially as I take on a new challenge next year: serving as Chair of the University Student Council. I’m excited to bring everything I’ve learned into this new role and continue growing in ways I never imagined when I started this journey.

So, if you’re curious about what it’s like to be Commissioner of External Affairs, or just want to hear more about Board life, feel free to drop by the VSPVU room while I’m still around. I’d love to share my experience

Love Anne❤️
