Blog post #3 - Lotta
Hiii everyone,
It is my turn to update you on how my board year is going through this blogpost :)
At the moment, I am in my finale months of being in the board. It feels surrealistic to say this, because I feel like it was just yesterday that I had my treasurer training and was stressing about budgets. I feel like just now I’m getting comfortable in my position and started learning all the tricks. This year went bye so quickly, it feels crazy.
One thing I really love this year, is being such a big part of the association and organizing events for everyone. It is so nice to see all the new members having fun together. One of my favorite events of this year was Active Member Weekend. I had a lot of fun planning everything with my board members. It was one big weekend of chaos, partying and cooking for what felt like a zoo. I also really liked our painting workshop. It was such a wholesome event where everyone made cute little paintings of each other. I now have a beautiful painting from Anaïs hanging above my bed.
I remember that in the beginning of the year, everything felt so stressful. In the summer of the candidate period, I switched positions and became the treasurer of the board. I used to say that was the one position in the board I would never do, because it seemed very scary. Now I can say that I really enjoy it and I have learned so much from it. It was a challenge for sure. One of the things I really had to learn, was to be way more structured. My mind is very chaotic, so I really had to do my best to stay on top of things. I also thought I could never be responsible for all the money and administration, but now I really like the overview I have of everything. One of the big benefits of being the treasurer is that you know everything that happens within the association.
Overall, I had a lot of fun and made some really wonderful memories. I am really excited about the last couple of months and to have a new board who will do new great things!
Love,
Lotta
